"Studio One is a very special place – and Rachel is simply brilliant! Her classes are really motivating and effective – but always a lot of fun. I can’t think of any other form of exercise that I look forward to quite so much! I have never felt stronger, and I would recommend her wholeheartedly!"
"Rachel’s jumpboard classes are fun, lively and I really look forward to them. She is a great teacher, friendly and supportive but always ready to challenge, has a genuine understanding of each of us, what our capabilities are and any weaknesses that need working on. "
"Sarah Lasenby has been my Pilates instructor for 10 years. She is a dedicated instructor, encouraging and supportive with a deep knowledge of her subject. Sarah challenges you to stretch that bit further. At 54, I am without doubt fitter and stronger since starting Pilates because of her brilliant teaching."

The Pilates reformer is an elegant machine which provides finely tuned Pilates exercises, with resistance, allowing you to work more deeply to develop and increase your core strength and enhance flexibility. The springs in the Reformer provide the resistance from the machine, and the rest of the resistance is provided by your own body weight. Different tensions of springs can be used to increase or decrease the resistance. Many of the Pilates Reformer exercises are done lying down on the carriage with the head on the adjustable headrest and the feet on the adjustable foot bar. The carriage is moved by pushing against the foot bar or pulling the straps or ropes at the other end of the reformer. The carriage glides back and forth along the inside of the frame, responding to the effort you exert and the amount of resistance set up by the springs. Other exercises can be done sitting, kneeling, or standing on the carriage. The shoulder blocks keep you stable on the reformer as you push or pull the carriage. Often, your shoulders are against the blocks, but there are also exercises that use the shoulder blocks as props for the feet, knees, or hands. We keep classes small focusing on 5 people per class.
Bringing HIIT to your Pilates workout.
Do you need more cardio in your workout but are afraid your joints aren't up to it? Jumpboard will improve your core strength and stability, giving you a huge endorphine high and... it's gentle on your joints. Jumping on heavy springs will serious muscle fatique in your lower body (ie the great burny feeling). The lighter springs will seriously fire up your deep stabiliser muscles that will stabilise your spine, pelvis and core (why hello abs of steel!). This class is great for improving foot health too, as it works on mobility, stability and effective shock absorbtion - which helps minimise the risk of any future injuries. This class adds an extra cardio and plyometric workout to the reformer. Perfect if you’re looking to up the challenge or add a little variety, as this one is tough! The workout involves lots of jumping and kicking, as well as lifting and rotating movements, to push you hard and make your body sweat. Not only will you improve your cardio fitness, but your muscle tone and core strength too.
We are organsing Reformer and Jumpboard workshops throughout the year that clients can pay a one off fee for. We charge £35pp for a one off workshop.
